Just like Fashion's Night Out was created to help out the fashion industry in a time of crisis, DECOR ACCION is surely a celebration of the design industry and twentieth-century antique shops here in Madrid (and Madrid DOES love a good modernist piece of furniture!). It consisted on mercadillos (street markets) along c/ Cervantes, c/ Quevedo and c/ San Pedro, and also installations -created by interior design firms, along the streets, inside shops and window displays.
The Barrio de las Letras, which vaguely runs from the Plaza de Santa Ana to the Paseo del Prado, is a delightful neighborhood filled with the cutest shops- both fashion and decor, but all with a vintage sensibility. I am completely in love with it and can't wait to head back there soon! However, most of the antique shops that exhibited in DECOR ACCION belong to El Rastro (an area of Madrid dedicated to antiques which I have been canvasing for months now!).
The sweetest shop!

ReplyDeleteFor your followers to know, its made out of 4,200 CDs, 4,200 washers and 4,200 zip-ties, all tied to a 35sqm metal mesh hanging from the façade, with a total weight of 125kg.
It took around 896 hrs to be designed and produced.
It will be hanging from the Vincci Soho hotel façade along autumn, as the Barrio de las Letras Trade Association and the hotel itself has requested us to keep it there, as they consider it as an icon for the neighbourhood.
Thanks once more!! www.iade.es
That is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
