The Most Amazing Carpets

Speaking of amazing... I'm obsessed with prints and pattern design, so I'm always on the lookout for great ideas. Enter my latest discovery: We Make Carpets, a Netherland-based group founded by designers Bob Waardenburg, Marcia Nolte and Stijn van der Vleuten. Basically, they create the most amazing carpets out painstakingly arranging hundreds, if not thousands, of the most mundane objects, like paperclips and plastic forks, into patterns. Here are my favorite projects:

Peg Carpet
Paperclip Carpet
Fork Carpet
Clean Carpet
Wounded Carpet
See?! Amazing!

Decorating With Graphics

Speaking of interior design and all... these cushions from The Rug Company are beyond cool. And super expensive, of course (they range roughly from $800 to $300), but well worth every cent. Don't you think?

Playlist Friday P.9: Soundtracks

Ok this is a far more inspired playlist than last week's, since it's the soundtrack of one of my all-time-fave movies: The Royal Tenenbaums. A brilliant soundtrack is part of what makes a great movie, well, great... and this one includes some of the best bands/artists. Plus, I've been wanting to post something with The Velvet Underground and Nico, so this presented the perfect occasion! I'm starting to like this soundtrack playlists idea a lot, many many movies come to mind. Stay tuned!

But first...

Kelly Wearstler

One of the people that I'm most inspired by, both as a business-woman and a designer, is Kelly Wearstler. She's an amazing LA-based interior designer who has created incredible spaces like The Tides hotel in South Beach and the Viceroy Hotels. She also launched her first RTW collection for Fall 2011 in New York. Is there anything she doesn't do? Well, she also happens to have a blog named My Vibe My Life, a backstage view of her creative process, which I was checking out today. So here's a mix of images from her residential and commercial projects, and from her blog that I found really inspiring!
