Gareth Pugh S/S 2011

They did it again!
That is SHOWstudio's Fashion-Filmaker Ruth Hogben and Gareth Pugh have collaborated again, for the 5th time.
The product: A film to present Pugh's S/S 2011 collection- once again instead of a traditional runway show- yesterday during Paris Fashion Week.

Click here to see the film on the Collections page of SHOWstudio, and follow this link to a short article and interview on Pugh's S/S 2011 film on DAZED Digital.

Colorblocking for S/S 2011

London and Milan have made me smile!

You know, every September and February/March I look forward to London Fashion Week, because it is usually the one that brings bold graphics, shapes and colors. Milan on the other side- as I was thinking to myself- is straight-up fashion. Sexy, glamourous... you know, that sort of thing. But surprise of surprises!... Color was EVERYWHERE this time around on the RTW coolections!

...and everyone that knows me, knows my love for bright colors, stripes and glossy stuff (...think patent)! So I'm happy. And I'm smiling.

Also, all this color can only mean one thing: That next summer will be a very fun and photogenic one! (Better choose well your beach destination for next year, to give a proper life to these collections!)

So here are a few of my favorite looks:

The Giles Deacon S/S 11 collection was like a hot pink and pastel colored dream! Like cotton-candy and lollipops. So much fun, and the head pom poms were fantastic!

Prada S/S 11... going bananas! hehe. Again, SO MUCH FUN! And the stoles... Those multicolored fluffy foxtail stoles are insane!

And... I got to see the show live from The LOVE Magazine:
The Jill Sanders S/S 11 collection HAS to be my favorite one! The more I look at it.... the more obsessed I become! Plus the Hitchcock soundtrack is so cool! (It is from Psycho right?)
...and the little purple dress!! I'll be saving all my money for that one! I already have the hot pink lipstick, and a neon orange one, so I think I'm all set for next summer!

And finally, the Moschino Cheap & Chic S/S 11 collection was so adorable! And that hot pink dress will be at the top of my 'wish list':

I am including here some of my favorite shows [so far] in case you haven't seen them already:

...can't wait to see what Paris Fashion Week brings!

September Discoveries

By now you might have already realized which are my favorite places to find Fashion Films: DAZED Digital (...btw its new website, launched this past September, looks fantastic!), NOWNESS, The LOVE Magazine, and of course anything made by SHOWstudio. Yet Fashion Films can be found almost anywhere these days! It's hard to keep up.

So here is a whole bunch of my latest discoveries. I love September and January because it is when all the new Fashion Films come out. Mostly. So it makes me feel like im going around the web with a cute little basket collecting all these pastel-colored cute little Easter eggs. Yes, just like Easter!... but for fashion hehe. I'm not going to comment on every film, because otherwise I will never finish this post, so just enjoy!

First though you should check the Native Son A/W 2010 Film (follow the link because I haven't been able to find it on Youtube...). It is really good! and apparently all the rage amongst menswear blogs according to another fashion-obsessed friend of mine. Thanks A! (the link goes to his Twitter page). Yeah... it's one season late, but better find it late than never! He also sent me the film from ASOS, which shows how important their own label is becoming [for them]. So branding branding branding = Fashion Film nowadays!

The Gareth Pugh one, Joi de Vivre, is also from a previous season, but I only found it recently. And loved it as usual. Again Ruth Hogben from SHOWstudio gives us an impressive little film. The repetition (sort of like spinning a record but in video), the visual rhyme, the music, the blackness, the attitude!...  I am a fan! (... and Raquel Zimermann is ALWAYS amazing!)

You know what I would like to see next?... A Fashion Film from Missoni. I would LOVE to see all their zig-zags in motion! Can I do it? Oh Please! Please!

Oh and the last one is just a sweet little surprise that I found too cute to omit!  ;)

FNO Madrid

Yeah I know Fashion's Night Out was last week...

The center of FNO in Madrid was on the corner of Ortega y Gasset and Claudio Coello (Barrio de Salamanca), where Vogue Spain set up tent. With a red carpet, a giant screen, champagne, VIP guests and a live photoshoot. I was super jet lagged at the moment, so like a zombie I made my way through an ocean of cute girls and super high heels (also cute guys!). But only managed to get 2 semi-descent pics from the Missoni David.

Missoni, which is located in Lagasca here in Madrid, joined forces with artist Eladio de Mora (dEmo), who created a real size David for Missoni to dress. Fun!

Also, to celebrate FNO and Fashion Week, Vogue is exhibiting throughout September 100 of the most legendary covers of this magazine. From 1917 to 1965. On Serrano (Madrid's sort of 5th Ave.). So naturally, I took a walk down Serrano to get some pics for you!

So here is the David and some of the Vogue Covers:

LOVE Films

LOVE Magazine has been developing (and releasing) short films specially created for their new iPad Appand others for the website. They are meant to compliment the biannual publication by being the 'moving image version'- Creating video content for the printed stories. The App begins with Issue 4, out this September. And the website is looking pretty cool and interactive!

LOVE Website:
The first one is an iPad video of Elle Macpherson shot by Sharif Hamza. There is also another LOVE iPad video of Dree Hemingway in Miu Miu Archive by Alasdair McLellan, but I can't find it anywhere, so here is a link to some of the video's stills

The second very short, short LOVE film here is a CK Calvin Klein one, shot by Fabien Baron, styled by Joe McKenna and starring Lara Stone. The third is an exclusive behind the scenes video of the new LOVE Chloe perfume commercial. Shot by Roman Coppola and starting Raquel Zimmermann.... and the fourth video is about Abbey Clancy and her LOVE for Liverpool, also shot by Alasdair McLellan. All 3 of these videos created specially for thelovemagazine.co.uk

So, plenty of videos to go about this September!

Back to Fashion Fashion Fashion...

Here is a bunch of new(ish) fashion films. This is a warm-up to what's to come soon, now that fashion week(s) is just around the corner. More like fashion month... since it doesn't really matter where you are anymore, thanks to brands' new obsession with live-streaming. So runway shows for everyone. From anywhere. Yeih!

The first short film is Bleu de Chanel, directed by Martin Scorsese. This film features two of Scorsese's great loves: New York and the Rolling Stones. It premiered on August 25, on the BLEU DE CHANEL Facebook page...an 'online event' that you could attend.

The second film is a Miu Miu A/W 2010-2011 Ad Campaign. Directed by Madonna. Yeap... Madonna. It has been around for a few weeks, although I discovered it recently. Apparently, Madonna showed up onto the set of Miu Miu campaign shooting to meet photographers Mert Atlas and Marcus Pigott, to take them out for dinner. But she got distracted and ended up directing the video instead (Source Elle UK).

Model Ginta Lapina told LOVE magazine: "We were supposed to shoot a video, so Madonna said she wanted to direct it. They said she could do it but they weren't going to pay her and she started laughing. She put on her iPod and taught us moves and we shot the video for two hours".

The third film is Eniko's Diamond Dip. Distributed through NOWNESS on August 26; and created in collaboration with photographer-turned-filmmaker KT Auleta, and Lacôme Creative Director and Makeup Guru Aaron de Mey. Glitzy! You can also see the film and read the small article on NOWNESS here.

The last video is not a fashion film, but the trailer for Black Swan. Natalie Portman's upcoming film (out in December). Directed by Darren Aronofsky. It premiered this past September 1st, opening The 67th Venice Film Festival. The films looks incredible, but I'm adding it here because of an article I read on Farfetch, where I learnt that the Rodarte sisters designed the cast's costumes! So I cannot wait to watch this movie! Follow this link to the Farfetch article on Black Swan.

First it was A Single Man, then I Am Love, and now Black Swan... wow it has been a great year for film!  :)

I hope you enjoy these short films as much as I did:
