I've been 'Off the Grid' lately. Not by choice. It's just that Vodafone's pre-paid internet service kinda sucks. At least in my case.

In short, that is why I haven't been posting and without internet I was forced to go out and enjoy Madrid. Not such a bad trade after all. There's so much to discover!

Basically, the high-end district is called Barrio de Salamanca, which here is also called "La Milla de Oro" (The Golden Mile). And like any other big city of the world, you can be sure to find the usual suspects: Chanel, Miu Miu, Cartier, Bottega Veneta, YSL and so and so on... Of course these brands are like McDonalds in a way. Wherever you go, you are sure to find them. And you know exactly what awaits inside. Not so much fun after a while... What about uniqueness? Exclusivity?

So, what makes Madrid so interesting (and for now I'm just talking fashion-wise) is that it is full of really amazing boutiques and concept stores. So my 'homework' for the summer will be to document that and discover all sorts of local brands. I will begin by Barrio de Salamanca but of course it doesn't end there! I've heard there are more 'exotic' vintagy places all over town!

Until then, I leave you with 2 fun pics.
If this pic was from a musical, that would be my time to sing....'And all that Jazz....' haha.
